- Description
- DESCRIPTION: The Project Manager for Maneuver Ammunition Systems, Picatinny, NJ, 07806 is conducting a Market Survey to locate potential manufacturers to produce improved bandoleers. Potential manufacturers would be responsible for: attaining raw materials, fabricating the final bandoleer product to a Government Tech Data Package (TDP), including acceptance tests and certifications, and final delivery of bandoleers to CONUS locations in support of ammunition pack-out operations. The projected production rate is 325,000 Bandoleer units per month. The improved bandoleer is a textile bag with carry strap utilized to pack and carry 5.56mm ammunition. The bandoleer body is formed with 5.0oz (approx.) needlepunch polyester material (dimensions of approx. 19.25 x 12.625) that is folded to form the body. The body is folded such that a pocket flap is formed, resulting in an overall 19.25 length and 6.125 height. Seven parallel plunge-style ultrasonic weld seams total, 6.125 in length each, are used to seal the ends of the body as well as define four equal size pockets across the bag length. Each welded seam has a patter consisting of a single row of welds, each approximately 0.0625 in diameter with 0.250 center-to -center spacing. Additionally, the end welds are double width (two rows, 0.250 spacing between) and secure between the polyester body layers, a 50 long and 1.375 wide MIL-T-13452 polypropylene yarn strap. Ultrasonic welds/seams are inspected using test procedures in ASTM-D-6193, ASTM-D-1683, and ASTM-D-5034. The final design has been qualified by the US Army ARDEC; no redesigns will be considered. As an alternate to ultrasonic welding, sewing may be utilized only if proven cost effective by potential suppliers. SPECIFICATIONS: This item shall be manufactured to a US owned Technical Data Package (TDP). PLANNED ACQUISITION: 325,000 Bandoleers per month. SUBMISSION INFORMATION: All interested firms and manufacturers, regardless of size are encouraged to respond to this request for information including current product literature, illustrations, drawings and relevant company background/experience. Upon response, a detailed TPD will be provided to those interested. Information submissions should include available technology and equipment, facilitization costs, amortization schedule, raw material costs per unit, and final burdened unit costs. Information submissions must be received NLT 30 calendar days of this publication date.
