Description
This is a modification to the synopsis entitled HANDS ON AIR ROCKET EXHIBIT FORNASA WALLOPS FLIGHT FACILITY VISITOR CENTER NNG10347857Q which was posted on July 19,2010. You are notified that the following changes are made: In addition to the Hands on Air Rocket Exhibit, a second exhibit for a Hands on RadarAltimetry Exhibit is added to the original requirement. NASA/GSFC plans to issue a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for the following two exhibits forthe NASA/GSFC/Wallops Flight Facility Visitor Center: HANDS ON AIR ROCKET EXHIBITNASA/GSFC/Wallops Flight Facility Visitor Center has a requirement for a hands-on airrocket exhibit to demonstrate to visitors, including students, the principles of rocketpropulsion. Two plastic 1-liter bottle 'rockets' travel along guy wires. Compressed airis pumped into each rocket by pressing it onto the air nozzle at the base of the unit. When the rockets are released, the air shoots them upward along the wire track, demonstrating how the principle of action and reaction is applied to rocket propulsion. The side-by-side rockets allow multiple users the opportunity to race each other. Thisunit will include an on board, noise dampening air compressor cable of processing clean, dry compressed air at a minimum of 80 PSI. The exhibit graphic must explain to the publichow to operate the exhibit and provide a description of the principle of action andreaction. In addition, the exhibit (both its construction and operation) must be safe foruse by visitors of all ages.Dimensions: 32W x 122L x 72HDry compressed air at 80 PSI minimumNoise reduction air compressor contained within exhibitPower 115VAC, 15 ampMust support use by approx. 30,000 visitors annuallyHANDS ON RADAR ALTIMETRY EXHIBITNASA/GSFC/Wallops Flight Facility Visitor Center has a second requirement for a hands-onradar altimetry exhibit to demonstrate to visitors, including students, the principal ofradar altimetry. The exhibit will provide an interactive explanation of radar altimetryand how it is used to measure sea height. A model of an altimetry satellite will movedown a maximum twenty foot overhead track. The model, which includes a working altimeter, will measure how high up it is from objects on the floor, directly simulating howsatellite altimetry works. Visitors will see a profile of the objects along the groundtrack. The exhibit graphic must explain to the public how to operate the exhibit andprovide a description of how radar altimetry works. In addition, the exhibit (both itsconstruction and operation) must be safe for use by visitors of all ages. Must support use by approx. 30,000 visitors annually.Specs:Maximum Dimensions: 120 (width) x 36 (depth) x 180 (height)Power 110VAC, 15 ampThe due date for responses is extended. The NAICS Code and Size Standard are 712110 and $7M respectively. The anticipated release date of RFQ NNG10347857Q is on or about August 10, 2010, with ananticipated due date of or or about August 17, 2010.All responsible sources may submit a quotation which shall be considered by the agency. An ombudsman has been appointed. All contractual and technical questions must be submitted in writing (e-mail or FAX) toJoan.L.Murden@nasa.gov not later than August 2, 2010.
