- GENERAL:The US Fish & Wildlife Service (USFWS), Quinault National Fish Hatchery (NFH), 3 Sockeye Road, Humptulips, WA 98552 has 24 concrete rearing ponds. These ponds were constructed in 1970 and are now 40 years old. The concrete walls and floors are pressure washed numerous times every year and the surface of the concrete has eroded and become very rough and detrimental to aquaculture. The Quinault NFH has limited funds this year and is only able to fund the resurfacing of two rearing ponds. This resurfacing will extend the life of the ponds by at least 15 years. This hybrid elastomeric coating has been applied to several Service hatcheries (e.g. Dworshak, Carson, & Warm Springs NFHs). Scope:Project is estimated at $5.20/sf. Based on a square footage per pond of 2624 sf. the amount would be $27,289.50 to cover two ponds. Weather and hatchery timeline for production will allow sufficient dry days for the coating of the ponds without the need for heat and tenting expenses on top of the above estimate. Specifications include an epoxy primer and urethane thickness of 120 mil average. DEFINITIONS: Hybrid Elastomeric Coating: Products and specifications have just been adopted by Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife. ICS have 20 years of application, development and testing. ICS has coated more hatcheries than all the others combined. PLACE/DELIVERY AND PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE: Rearing ponds will available for coating on August 2, weather permitting. Project should be completed by the end of August to take advantage of dry weather. Project is located at:Quinault National Fish Hatchery3 Sockeye RoadHumptulips, WA 98552 INSPECTION AND ACCEPTANCE: Regional Office Engineer and/or Hatchery Manager will inspect surfaces for finish and integrity. GOVERNMENT FURNISHED EQUIPMENT OR MATERIALS/INFORMATION: None (N/A) AVAILABILITY: Work will occur during normal hatchery hours, Monday thru Friday, 7:00am - 3:30pm.
