- Description
- The U. S. Army Natick Soldier Systems Center (NSSC), Product Manager Soldier Clothing and Individual Equipment (PM-SCIE), Natick, MA, is conducting a market survey to locate potential sources of supply for two variants (small and large) airdrop weapons case container to replace the current M-1950 weapons case used during airborne operations. The case does not need to resemble the current M-1950 weapons case and must be flexible in design to accommodate future weapons systems. Version One (Small) 1) Must interface with existing equipment and capable of being worn with the MC-6, T-11 and T-10 parachute systems. 2) Must have an area near the attachment point to attach the Hook Pile Tape Lowering Line 3) It shall have tie down straps (top and bottom) when worn as a single item and have the ability to stow the lower tie down when worn in tandem. 4) Constructed in a manner that enables a paratrooper during limited visibility and wearing cold weather gloves to remove item (s) of equipment in d 10 seconds. 5) Construction must include padding on all sides, can be compressed (length and width) to secure internal contents and come with an internal padded divider to protect tow items (i.e. M4 Rifle and Hooligan Breaching Tool). The construction must protect against a drop of 27 feet per second and shall support a load of (T) 60 lbs (O) 80 lbs at an opening shock of 8g. 6) Must be easily maintainable and use current industry hardware and materials with the possibility of standard color (foliage green) and/or multi-cam patterns. 7) Case may not weigh no more than (T) 5 lbs (O) 3 lbs 8) Must have a carrying handle that can support 65 lbs 9) The case shall be reinforced on the bottom to prevent equipment from protruding on impact. 10) Internal size shall support smallest items 32 x 3 x 8.5 to larger items 40.5 x 4 x 11.5. 11) Overall size of the container shall be adjustable from a length of 41.5 to 32.5, and a width of 14 to 8 at the top of the case tapered to 7 at the bottom. Version two (large) The Large case must have all the same requirements as the small case except for those listed. 1) Overall size of the container shall be adjustable from a length of 51.5 to 40, and a width of 16 to 11 at the top of the case tapered to 11 at the bottom. 2) The construction must protect against a drop of 27 feet per second and shall support a load of (T) 85 lbs (O) 100 lbs at an opening shock of 8g. 3) May not weigh more than (T) 6 lbs (O) 5 lbs 4) Must have a carrying handle that can support 80 lbs 5) Internal size shall support smallest items 42 x 10 x 5.5 to larger items 50 x 14 x 7.
