Description
THIS SOLICITATION WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR REVIEWING AND PRINTING IN APPROXIMATELY 15 DAYS. The purpose and intent of this solicitation is to contract for the construction of Footbridge Abutments on the Ketchum Ranger District, Sawtooth National Forest. The project shall consist of construction of 10 (pairs) of drystack stone abutments. A total of 20 individual abutments will be constructed in Adams Gulch (6 pairs), Greenhorn Gulch (3 pairs) and Oregon Gulch (1 pair). All 10 pairs of stone abutments will total approximately 274 cubic feet. Stone abutments will be comprised of 2 stones each. In addition, 10 pairs or 20 individual drystack stone ramps leading from the landing, or top, of the abutments to the trail tread will be constructed. The 10 pairs of drystack ramps will total approximately 353 face feet. Project Locations: Adams Gulch: The footbridge abutments located in Adams Gulch are within the first 2 miles of Forest Road #141. Forest Road #141(Adams Gulch Road) is located approximately 2 miles northwest of Ketchum, ID. See attached map. Note: Both sides of all bridges are accessible by dirt road. Shallow water crossings (less then 18 inches deep) of Adams Gulch Creek are required at each bridge site. Greenhorn Gulch: The footbridge abutments located in Greenhorn Gulch are located within the first 1/2 mile of Forest Trail #156. Greenhorn Gulch is located 7 miles southwest of Ketchum, ID. See attached map. Note: Bridges #1 and #2 are accessible by either a 32inch wide trail and by driving approximately 600 feet cross country on a flagged route through a sagebrush flat. Bridge #3 is only accessible by traveling on a 24 -32 inch wide trail. Shallow water crossings (less than 18 inches deep) of Greenhorn Creek are required at each bridges site. Bridges #1 and #2 have banks with a slope of 8% or less, bridge #3 has a steep bank up to 60% slope and may require cross country travel on a flagged route for approximately 400 feet to access both sides. Oregon Gulch: The footbridge abutments located in Oregon Gulch are located approximately 200 feet of the Oregon Trailhead, located 8.5 miles north of Ketchum. Note: This bridge site is accessible by driving cross country for approximately 200 feet on a flagged route, there is a water crossing with a 12% or less slope that is within 70 ft (downstream) of the abutment site Estimate Start Date August 30, 2010 with 62 days for completion.
