- Description
- The purpose of this amendment is to post Questions & Answers. All terms and conditions remain unchanged. Q1. Is orthophosphate the only soluble (dissolved) analysis in this project, with all the other tests being reported as total?A1. Orthophosphate is the only dissolved analysis Q2. Should the quoted pricing reflect a standard 10 business day turnaround time, or is a faster TAT needed?A2. The quoted pricing should reflect the standard TAT, and the standard TAT should be specified Q3. Will the laboratory be required to provide bottles, preservatives, coolers, etcor will USBR be handling those items?A3. We are asking the laboratory to provide bottles and preservatives so that the laboratory is confident in their cleanliness and to make sure that the preservatives are appropriate for the methods they are using. We will need to have some bottles shipped to Denver initially (figure 50% for budgeting) and will distribute them to the field sites. We will provide the coolers needed to ship the samples to the labs and will provide a FedEx number to have the coolers and the next round of bottles shipped back to us. Q4. Do you have specific reference methods in mind for the various parameters, and if so, what are they?A4. Methods should be those detailed in "Standard Methods for the Examination of Water and Wastewater" or U.S. EPA "Methods for Chemical Analysis of Water and Wastes", or equivalent. Q5. The solicitation specifies analysis for total nitrogen (TN), which we do perform using USGS 2003, Persulfate Digestion. However, we can also determine total Kjeldahl nitrogen (TKN) using EPA Method 351.2, and calculate TN as the sum of TKN and nitrate plus nitrite nitrogen. What is your preference? A5. We are open to either TN by persulfate digestion or as the sum of TKN and nitrate + nitrite-N. Q6. We are planning to include Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as a demonstration that we have established methods and are ready to perform the work. Do you have any objection to receiving SOPs at this time?A6. No, that would help us with our evaluation. Q7. Do you have a specific Method Detection Limit or Reporting Limit in mind for the total organic carbon (TOC) analysis?A7. TOC will be highly variable. We would like to see a reporting limit of 0.5 mg/L. Q8. Will the selected contractor be responsible for providing sample bottles and shipping containers?A8. See Q3 above Q9. What level data package do you wish to receive?A9. Different laboratories have different levels of data packages so this question is hard to answer. As a minimum, we would like to receive sample results and results for QA/QC samples. Laboratories are free to provide different pricing levels for different levels of reporting.
