- This Pre-Solicitation Notice is being issued by the United States Army Corps of Engineers - Chicago District to inform interested/potential contractors of the District's imminent issue of an Invitation for Bids to obtain construction services for the "RANBURN WOODS DRAINAGE PROJECT," located in the GARY, INDIANA. PROJECT INFORMATION: Under the contract set, the Contractor will be responsible for providing all necessary labor, transportation, materials, and equipment to alleviate flooding in the Ranburn Woods areas (between Ranburn Drive and the Cady Marsh Ditch from Cleveland Street to Ellsworth Drive.) This will include providing a positive outlet from existing depressional areas located adjacent to Ranburn Drive, Oak Lane and Cleveland Street. It will provide drainage assistance to the homeowner's along Ellsworth Street. It will avoid impacts to Cady Marsh Ditch and surrounding wetlands by direct impacts or hydraulic impacts. A system will also be installed so that there will minimal maintenance needed from Lake County. ACQUISITION INFORMATION: Competition for this acquisition is RESTRICTED to SMALL BUSINESS CONCERNS. The Classification Code for this procurement is North American Industry System Code 237990, which applies a small business size standard in dollars of $33.5M. The magnitude of cost for this construction project is estimated between $1M and $5M. The Invitation for Bids (IFB) Package will be downloadable from the INTERNET ONLY. The project specification files are Portable Document Format (PDF) files and can be viewed, navigated or printed using Adobe Acrobat Reader. Interested Bidders can download the IFB Package from the Internet Site http://www.Fbo.gov. The IFB will be available at the above-mentioned Internet site on 19 July 2010. The due date for bids will be on 19 August 2010 at 2:00 pm CDT. In order for contractors to be awarded contracts with the Department of Defense, the contractor must be registered in the Central Contractor Registration (CCR); Contractors can access the CCR for free at http://www.ccr.gov. The Government intends to award a firm-fixed price construction contract from this acquisition. Request for solicitation packages made by telephone, fax or e-mail will not be honored.
