- RECOVERY: This notice is provided for information purposes only. This opportunity is available only to contractors under the GSA Federal Supply Schedule 66 – Scientific Equipment and Services. This project will be funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. Description of Requirement: The Food and Drug Administration is soliciting for a High Speed Milling System. The high throughput electron microscopy laboratory requires a high speed milling system with an integrated stereo microscope for trimming of both biological and nanoscale industrial samples prior to processing though the ultramicrotome to create the samples of specific shape and size for use in transmission and scanning electron microscopes. The system must be versatile enough to handle both soft biological samples and hard industrial samples with speed and accuracy. Viewing of the sample from the perpendicular edge is also needed to insure the sample thickness prior to sectioning on the ultramicrotome. This procurement will be a firm-fixed price and will be competed under pre-existing Multiple Award Federal Supply Schedule contracts.
