- Request for Demonstration Textbook/FTAP Program The 42d Contracting Squadron is seeking companies interested in providing a demonstration of its support of eTextbook/FTAP Program. Two demonstrations are being sought, one for companies pitch electronic etextbooks; stepping away from a paper products and going to digital and one to make a five-week field training course into a CBT (Computer Based Training). This request for demonstration is for planning purposes only and shall not be considered as an invitation for bid, request for quotation, request for proposal, or as an obligation on the part of the Government to acquire any products or services. Your response to this request will be treated as information only. No entitlement to payment of direct or indirect costs or charges by the Government will arise as a result of contractor responses to this announcement or the Government use of such information. This request does not constitute a solicitation for proposals or the authority to enter into negotiations to award a contract. No funds have been authorized, appropriated, or received for this effort. The information provided may be used by the 42d Contracting Squadron in developing an acquisition strategy and statement of work/statement of objectives. Interested parties are responsible for adequately marking proprietary or competition sensitive information contained in their response. The Government does not intend to award a contract on the basis of this request for demonstration or to otherwise pay for the information obtained in response to this request. Responses are to be submitted via email to wayne.green@maxwell.af.mil or by phone (334) 953-5611 by 1600 PM on 23 Jul 2010. This is an information gathering effort only and if further procurement action is taken, additional publication(s) will be done as required. Respondents will NOT be notified of the results of ANY evaluation made from the demonstration. Interested parties should be prepared to address the list of technical parameter during their demonstration as described as follows: List of Technical Parameters for Field Training Academic Program (FTAP) demo for Curriculum Interactive requirements for Field Training Course the expectations are: 1. **Interactives need to take in to consideration the age of the students we serve** 2.... incorporate content that can be updated by Holm Center Curriculum (training to be provided by contractor). 3.... technologically timely and not limited to voice over slides. 4.... provide knowledge, application and evaluation level checkpoints (can be edited also) that can be either emailed or printed for proof of completion 5.... allow for tracking ability throughout experience (i.e., each click is logged as well as time to completion of each exercise) 6.... follow a logical format, and are easy to manipulate. 7.... reflect best practices in online Computer Based Training for the age of our constituents. 8.... are SCORM compliant 9.... meet accessibility requirements 10.... demonstrate an ability to grow in the future -- or to be responsive to the continuing changes in technology. List of Parameters for e-book demo for Curriculum 1. Interactivity --How interactive? --Can students take notes/highlight/underline on the electronic versions online and print the textbook page with the notes -- and then print these notes with the textbook pages -- in color? --Live links to connected material on the internet? --Size of text? --change size of lettering without impacting page references? (Provide magnification) --Accessibility for special needs? --Bookmarking important information? **any type of interactivities that are incorporated into an etextbook need to take in to consideration the age of the students we serve** ***above consideration must be balanced with a logical and easy to use layout for our instructors*** 2. Printing --yes/no? --Teacher control? --Curriculum JROTC control? --Ability to take notes online AND print the textbook page with the notes? 3. Saving --can students bookmark to return directly to their last visited area in the textbook? --can bookmarks be labeled? 4. Ease of use and navigation --Students and faculty -- provide ability to navigate through the book easily and efficiently from any page 5. Ease of update and editing privileges (faculty / curriculum writers) 6. Methods for using mobile learning devices -- Smart phones, iPad, iPod -- eBook electronic device -- CROSS PLATFORM! CROSS browser compatibility also 7. Secure accessibility -- Access controlled through user name and password -- can download? 8. Updates of technology -- Must be able to demonstrate how rapidly changing technology will be addressed? -- Concern related to: Renting textbooks online, customer updates viewers, then no longer able to access textbook. How will situations like this be prevented?
