- Description
- The United States Coast Guard National Strike Force has a need for 90 Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) Thirty SCBAs are to be delivered to each of the following locations: Ft. Dix NJ, Mobile, Al, and Novato, Ca. The following are the minimum requirements: 1) Single mask that can be utilized between SCBA, Powered Air-Purifying Respirator (PAPR), and Air-Purifying Respirator (APR). 2) Must meet or exceed NFPA 1981-2007 Standard on Open Circuit SCBA for Fire and Emergency Services and NFPA 1982-2007 Standard on Personal Safety Systems. 3) All major components (SCBA, PAPR, and APR) shall be CBRN Agent Approved by NIOSH and complies with NIOSH 42 CFR 84.63(c). 4) The CBRN approved mask shall be a pressure-demand hycarb facepiece with nosecup and includes 4 point adjustable speed on head harness. The masks need to be available in Small, Medium, and Large sizes. 5) A Heads-Up Display attached to the facepiece is required to see cylinder pressure. 6) The SCBA harness shall have the capability to have adjustable pull straps, waist belt with adjustable lumbar support/pad, analog or digital pressure guage, and support a 4500 psig carbon wrapped cylinder. 7) An audible alarming system is required to warn the wearer when cylinder pressure drops below a certain value. 8) The ability for Personal Alert Safety Systems (PASS) (remote monitoring of responders in the hot zone). 9) The ability to attach the SCBA harness to threads on a standard valve for a 4500 psig (60 min) cylinder. 10) The ability for amplified communication capability including the connection to portable radio. 11) Each SCBA carrier and harness assembly shall come with a ruggedized case large enough to include storage of one 4500psi cylinder. 12) The APR and PAPR shall be able to protect against chemical/biological agents, the majority of Toxic Industrial Chemicals/Toxic Industrial Materials, including organic vapors and particulates. Additionally the ability of a HEPA filter is required. 13) The Brand of SCBA, PAPR, and APR shall have the ability for field level maintenance training.
