COMBINED SYNOPSIS/SOLICITATION PURCHASE ONE NANO SPECTROMETER (I) This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice and in accordance with the simplified acquisition procedures authorized in FAR Part 13. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; proposals are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. (II) This solicitation is issued as a request for quotation (RFQ). Submit written quotes on RFQ Number WRC-10-17116 (III) The solicitation document and incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular 2005-10. (IV) This procurement is unrestricted and open to all sources. The associated NAICS code is 334516. (V) This combined solicitation/synopsis is for purchase of the following commercial item(s)/services: See Attached. (VI) Description of requirements is as follows: WRD-10-17116 STATEMENT OF WORK- MICRO-VOLUME SPECTROMETER DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES Objective: We are currently collecting larval sablefish samples for future gene expression assays at the Manchester laboratory. This gene research is instrumental for the development of spawning protocols for cultured sablefish in captivity and the successful completion of proposed research which was funded by the FY 2008 National Marine Aquaculture Initiative. Additionally, we will be conducting protein digestibility studies with larval sablefish to optimize the formulation of our open formula, microparticulate diet formulated for marine fish. To complete this research we require a spectrometer capable of measuring the concentrations of protein and nucleic acids in both very small samples (<10 microliters) as well as standard cuvette sized samples. Scope: One micro-volume spectrometer with a standard cuvette option will need to be purchased as soon as possible. If the micro-volume spectrometer does not have the standard cuvette option, a second standard UV-VIS spectrometer must additionally be purchased. Specifications required: 1. Records absorbance measurements from 190nm to 840nm. 2. Wavelength accuracy of ± 1 nm. 3. Measures absorbance of small (0.5-2.0 microliter) samples as well as standard cuvette samples. 4. Adjustable path lengths of 10, 5, and 1 mm. 5. (d) Comptroller General Examination of Record.
