Description
This is a modification to the synopsis entitled DESIGN AND FABRICATION OF 3D WOVENNEXTEL PANELS, Solicitation NNC10343135Q which was posted on July 21, 2010. You arenotified that the following changes are made: Additional Details for Panels 2.5/3D Weave Design DetailsDescription:2.5/3D Woven Nextel Panels (Preforms)Architecture 1 Weave Construction:Generic Layer to LayerArchitecture 2 Weave Construction:Modified Layer to LayerWarp Fiber:1500 denier Nextel 610 Fill Fiber:1500 denier Nextel 610 Panel Thickness:0.050-0.060(must fall within this range, or it can't be used to make test specimens)Panel Width:12.5Panel Length:2.5/3D panels (preform) in 3 ftlengths (or greater) Fiber Loading:Must exceed 35 volume percent.Desire 40-45 volume percent, withoutbroken fibers/tows. Vendor must provide evidence that they have successfully made thisfabric (for example, to support another program, and that can be verified), as first-timeefforts typically yield failure. We are on a schedule that will not allow us to take onthe risk that the vendor wont provide an acceptable material.Vendor must provideevidence of ability to scale this type of weaving up (indicate that they have therequired loom to make a 3 ft wide cloth/preform, which is what will eventually berequired). We will not pursue a weave that the vendor cant scale-up to that width.18 ft architecture 1: generic layer to layer21 ft architecture 2: modified layer to layerFile: Design and fabrication of 3D woven panels The due date for responses is extended to 4:30 p.m. on August 5, 2010.
