- The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention intends to issue a sole source firm fixed priced purchase order to Slone Epidemiology Center Boston University located at 1010 Commonwealth Avenue Boston, MA. 02215. This is a special notice to determine the availability of potential vendors that can provide the necessary technical data for the National Center on Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities. The core tasks and minimum contractor requirements will include: The contractor shall have an extensive backgroud and experiience with : 1) epidemiological knowledge of birth defects, and 2) knowledge regarding nutrition and pharmacology progrmas. The contractor must have the following qualifications: 1) extensive experience in nutrition and relevant literature regarding medications and herbal supplements; 2) broad experience in public health and topics related to this activity; and 3) demonstrated experience in providing products/literature pertaining to medications and herbal supplements. The Slone Drug Dictionary is a computerized system developed and maintained by the Slone Epidemiology Center (SEC) of Boston University. It is an epidemiologic research tool designed to code prescription drugs, over-the-counter drugs, and vitamins, as well as products classified as dietary supplements, including herbals and other natural products. The Slone Drug Dictionary contains codes for over 14,500 single agents and over 10,000 products and been used in over 20 Slone Epidemiology Center studies involving over 300,000 subjects. It has also been successfully used by other investigators in many national and international studies to code and facilitate analysis of a wide range of exposures to traditional medicinal agents as well as dietary supplements and herbal products. The Slone Drug Dictionary is an established and flexible pharmacoepidemiologic research tool which allows for the coding of new entities while retaining historical information on formulation changes. The proposed contract action is for services which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under authority of FAR PART 6.302-1; 4202 Clinger-Cohen Act of 1996. Contractors interested in this requirement should submit a complete technical package, which provides clear and convincing evidence that they can meet the Governments requirements. In addition, the response should any special requirements for a commercial contract (i.e., Commercial Financing, Warranty Provisions, Delivery Information, etc.) in accordance with FAR Part 12. Anticipated award date is August 30, 2010. Responses must be received no later (NLT) 4:00 p.m., Eastern Standard Time, August 18, 2010. Responses should be submitted to: Matthew Ellington 2920 Brandywine Road N.E. M/S E-01 Atlanta, GA 30341. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, the Government will consider all responses received before the closing of this notice. A determination by the Government not to compete this acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. This procurement is not set-aside for small business.
