- This notice is a Sources Sought announcement only. There is no Solicitation package available at this time. The JM&LCC, in support of the Project Manager for Crew Served Weapons (PMCSW), is conducting a market survey to identify future potential sources for the M2E2 Quick Change Barrel (QCB) Kit required for the conversion of the M2 machine gun into a M2A1 machine gun. General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products (GDATP) currently owns the proprietary Technical Data Package (TDP) for the M2E2 QCB Kit. In accordance with FAR 15.201(e); this is not a Request For Proposal (RFP) or an Invitation For Bid (IFB), nor is it to be construed as a commitment by the Government. Responses to this notice are not offers and cannot be accepted by the Government to form a binding contract. Responses shall not be considered as proposal in response to RFP or IFB; nor an obligation from the U.S. Government to acquire any products or services; nor an authorization to incur any cost in anticipation of such authorization. The Government is not requesting any samples to be submitted. The Government will not reimburse respondents for any information submitted nor for any samples submitted. The information provided herein is subject to change and in no way binds the Government to pursue any course of action described herein. Description:The M2A1 is an improved M2 Heavy Barrel.50 Caliber Machine Gun. The M2A1 is an automatic, recoil-operated, link-belt-fed, air cooled weapon. This improvement moves the M2A1 machine gun headspace and timing requirements above the operator level. This notice is to determine if there are sources capable of producing the M2E2 QCB Kit to convert the M2 machine gun to M2A1 machine gun with fixed headspace and timing configuration for future procurements. The NAICS Code for this item is 332994. At this time, there is no Request for Proposal (RFP) or anticipated release date. Responses:If any of the material provided contains proprietary information, then mark and identify disposition instructions. Responses from interested parties, should include, but are not limited to, the following: Interested firms should provide their address, point-of-contact with telephone number, e-mail address. List any prior contracts, with contact person, (Especially any DOD contracts) of the same or similar items manufactured by you.Is the contractors item of a type customarily used by the general public or by non-governmental entities for purposes other than governmental purposes and has been sold, leased, or licensed to the general public; or, been offered for sale, lease, or license to the general public?
