Description
Huckleberry Mtn. Trail Relocation: This project involves the relocation of 351 meters of the Huckleberry Mtn. Trail #780. Work includes clearing, grubbing, excavation, turnpike construction, rock retaining wall construction, installation of drainage structures, a switchback, and climbing turns. Blasting may be necessary on some sections of construction. The use of helicopters is not expected. The project will connect to the Suiattle River Road #26, which is undergoing reconstruction. Other contractors will be working in the area. Cooperation and communication with other contractors will be necessary This project is located on the Darrington Ranger District, of the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest. All relocation is located outside of designated wilderness. Take I-5 north of Seattle to state highway 530 and Arlington exit. Stay on Highway 530 to the town of Darrington. In Darrington, highway 530 turns left to Rockport and the North Cascades Highway. At the intersection turn left and follow highway 530 1/4 mile to Darrington Ranger Station. To continue to the trailhead: Pass the Ranger station on your left and continue 7 miles north to FSR #26, turn right on to the forest road. Follow FSR #26 12 miles Road closure. Hike of bike to the Huckleberry Mtn. Trailhead. The trailhead is on the left (north) and is signed. The road construction schedule is posted at www.fs.fed.us/r6/mbs/conditions/road-trail-conditions.shtml#trails. The effective period of this contract is from October 1st 2010 through November 1st, 2011. Government's Estimate is between $25,000 and $100,000. Payment Bond will be required upon award.
