Description
The Social Security Administration (SSA) is seeking a comprehensive and combined Tape Drive and Tape Analysis Software product to advance the productivity and reliability of SSA's Tape environment. This product must be able to gather data from CA-1 (Tape Library Management (TLM))) and from Virtual Tape Subsystems (VTS) including but not limited to IBM VTS and StorageTek VSM. Minimum Mandatory Requirements: The product must be able to gather data from Tape Library Management (i.e., CA 1) and from Virtual Tape Subsystems (VTS) both IBM VTS and StorageTek VSM. •· Tape Library Management information from CA 1 •o Tape Data Set Management - should provide tape data set analysis, including frequency of access and cartridge utilization and data should be accessible on IBM z/OS mainframe using SAS programming language. •§ Tape Volume Summary Report - This report should generate a summary report for each tape library processed by the TLM component. The report should show overall tape volume usage and scratch tape availability for each volume group. Managing volumes organized into separate groups allows for improved management and reporting such as grouping data by real tape and virtual tape. •· Virtual Tape Subsystems •§ Virtual Tape Cache Management - DASD cache buffering data •· Virtual Tape Volume Management - must provide information of virtual tape volumes, total virtual mounts by hour, breakdown the mounts between scratch and specific volume mounts, and provide percentage for the specific mounts. Also, should include total, minimum, maximum, and average time for total mounts summarized by hour and by day. For the specific virtual mounts, it should provide data on buffer hit and miss rates showing total, minimum, maximum and average values. •§ Virtual Tape Performance Analysis - must provide day-to-day performance metrics, throughput data, and bottleneck detection by System ID with reports on the following: •· Virtual Storage Manager/ Real Tape Drive (VSM/RTD) Usage Report summarize by hour for each day showing occupancy times •· Concurrent RTD Allocation •· VSM VTD (Virtual Tape Drive) Usage Summary by day per hour •· VSM Recall Report summarized by day and time increments •· VSM VTSS System Capacity Summary Report summarized by hour for each day broken down into groups for Disk Buffer, Host Links, and RTD Links •· The software product must provide functionality and flexibility with a variety of user exits points to support customer tailoring and site specific information •· The software product must have good interface capabilities to summarize data in the same way across all products, allowing users to combine data from the tape component, VTS component and any other component. •· The software product must provide ad hoc reporting capabilities with easy access to the data from a workstation and enables the user to generate graphs and perform analysis on the desktop. •· The software product must provide support for IBM software and hardware releases and other vendor software: •o z/OS 1.11 and z/OS 1.12 and beyond •o SAS 9.2 Vendors having the capability to meet the above minimum mandatory requirements are invited to submit complete details of their solution. The responses must clearly state how the solution provides the capability to meet SSA's mandatory requirements. Detailed responses to each of the above requirements (with substantiating documentation) are required. The vendor response must provide detailed accounts of how each of the requirements is met. Simple marketing information or incomplete responses will not be considered. Reference to vendor web sites is not considered a valid response. Respondents should indicate whether their software is available on GSA Federal Supply Schedules or any other Government-wide Agency Contract (GWAC). You may submit product cost and/or pricing data, inclusive of annual maintenance, with your response, however it is not required. Respondents should refer to SSA-RFI-10-08. Electronic responses only must be submitted by August 16, 2010. Faxed information will not be permitted. The size limitation for email attachments is 10 megabytes. NO FORMAL SOLICITATION IS BEING ISSUED AT THIS TIME, and the Government does not intend to pay for the information submitted. This information will be used in SSA's assessment of capable sources. Respondents will not be notified of any evaluated results from the data received. Any questions should be submitted via EMAIL ONLY (no phone calls please) to the Contract Specialist at Rick.Bolt@ssa.gov
