Description
This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; proposals are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation. Quotes are being requested via this synopsis and a written solicitation will not be issued. Requisition Number W81EWF02169717 is being issued as a request for quotes (RFQ) with intent to award as a simplified acquisition. The solicitation document and incorporated provision and clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular 2005-44. This requirement is 100% set-aside for Small Businesses under NAICS Code 333512 with number of employees not exceeding 500. The US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) at Waterways Experiment Station (WES), Vicksburg, MS, Coastal Hydraulics Laboratory has a requirement for: Specifications for a Mechanical Polisher CMB has a need to acquire a state of the art polisher. The polisher will support electron microscopy, nanoindentation, optical microscopy, and atomic force microscopy, which have unique requirements. Types of material samples will include geomaterials, biomaterials, metals, polymers, ceramics, and others. Given the breadth of research the polisher will support, it must be highly versatile. Furnish and Deliver One (1) mechanical polisher. The minimum requirements for the system are: a) Provides for presetting the total amount of material to be removed b) At least 1 micron vertical resolution positioning capability c) Capability of securing rectangular specimens for semiautomatic preparation d) Thin-film TEM, SEM, AFM, Nanoindenter, and Optical Microscopy sample preparation capabilities e) Capability to orient sample perpendicular to the platen and rotate simultaneously f) Capable of parallel polishing, precise angle polishing, site-specific polishing g) Constant geometric orientation of the sample relative to the abrasive plane during polishing, allowing quantification of material removal h) Control and record rate of polish and force i) Capable of controlling amount of material removed for hard specimens such as silicon carbide when using a diamond polishing compound j) Include 8 and 12 aluminum platens with variable speed (5-300 RPM) in at most 5 RPM increments k) Clockwise/counterclockwise platen rotation l) Coolant control m) Digital timer and tachometer controls n) 1.5 + capacity mount holder o) Up to 600 gram sample weight Delivery shall be no later than 27 AUG 2010. FOB Destination. Delivery is to be made to:USAERDC-WES, GSL, 3909 HALLS FERRY ROAD, VICKSBURG MS 39180-6199. Award shall be made to the responsible offeror whose quote is determined to be Lowest Price Technically Acceptable.
