Description

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to negotiate, on a sole source basis, under authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) (1), with Coherent, of Santa Clara, California, for Service Maintenance, on a Sabre Laser 15/3 DBW UV LASER, S/N: SIO502100 currently being used by the Optical Technology Division at NIST, Gaithersburg, Maryland. The Sole Source determination is based on the market research that shows that Coherent is the original equipment manufacturer of the Sabre Laser; is capable to provide maintenance service (in accordance with the original equipment specifications); and Coherent is the only known authorized vendor capable to provide the required maintenance service. A determination by the Government whether to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 811219, and the size standard is $5M. No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for quotations. However, responses received by August 24, 2010, will be considered by the Government.
