- The United States Coast Guard Surface Forces Logistics Center, Contracting and Procurement Branch 2, intends to issue a Commercial Request for Quote (RFQ) for Dock-side Repairs to the USCGC ALDER (WLB-216), a 225 FOOT "B' CLASS SEAGOING BUOY TENDER. The Coast Guard intends to conduct the procurement in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 12, Acquisition of Commercial Items. The NAICS Code is 336611 and the small business size standard is less than 1,000 employees. The acquisition will be issued as a 100% Service Disabled Veteran Owned (SDVOSB) Small Business Set- Aside, Best Value Request for Quote (RFQ), on or about August 25, 2010. The RFQ will be issued via the Federal Business Opportunity (FEDBIZOPPS) web page at www.fbo.gov. This requirement will be evaluated using past performance as an evaluation factor. Hard copies of the specification and solicitation will not be issued. It is incumbent upon contractors to monitor the FEDBIZOPPS web page for RFQ release and all subsequent amendments. FEDBIZOPPS also contains an optional automatic notification service. A CD-ROM containing all applicable drawings is available free of charge to contractors upon request not later than three (3) days from the solicitation issuance. The CD-ROM(s) contain WINDOWS compliant raster/vector formats (e.g.*.DWF, etc). The acquisition is for DOCK SIDE repairs to the USCGC ALDER (WLB-216), 225 Foot "B" Class Seagoing Buoy Tender at the homeport of the vessel, Deluth, MN. The performance period is expected to begin on or about 13 September 2010 and be completed within 40 days. The scope of the acquisition is for various repairs including but not limited to: Chain Stopper Relocate, Hydraulic Chain Stoppers, Inspect and Repair, Level 2, Cross Deck Winches, Inspect and Repair, Level 2, Warping Capstan, Inspect and Repair, Level 2, Boat Room, Inspect and Repair, Level 2, Single Point Davit, Inspect and Repair, Level 2, Buoy Crane, Inspect and Repair, Level 2, Deck Covering Systems, Renew, GFE Report. All welding and brazing shall be accomplished by trained welders who have been certified by the applicable regulatory code performance qualification procedures. All responsible sources may submit an offer which will be considered by the government.
