- The National Center for Environmental Health (NCEH), Division of Laboratory Science (DLS) of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) intends to procure: one (1) each Microlab Starlet 1 Arm Autoload Workstation (catalog No. 17300-034), one each (1) Microlab Starlet Extension (catalog no. 51634-010, one each (1) Microlab Star Control System 6436-01, one each (1) APPS1 method Applications, one (1) each Tip Rack Carrier for five (50 tip racks (catalog no. 188085), one (1) each Tip Carrier four (4) Position for Extension Module (catalog no. 52207-01), one (1) each Tip Carrier five (5) position (catalog no. 52208-01), two (2) each set of tube carrier for thirty two (32) tubes (catalog no. 173410), one (1) each set of four (4) tube carriers (catalog no. 173400), three (3) each Deep Well Plate Carrier (catalog no. 182090), one (1) each Tall MPT Stacker Carrier (catalog no. 185330), one (1) each Teaching Needles (catalog no. 182136), one (1) each VFV Consumable Kit (catalog no. 182506), one (1) each Microlab Star Vector Software (catalog no. 911004), one (1) each 2-D Barcode Scanner with carrier (catalog no. APE-1803-99) and system installation. All items will be delivered to CDC, Atlanta, GA. CDC anticipates soliciting and negotiating with only one source in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 6.302-1 - Only one responsible source, CDC has determined that Hamilton Co., 4970 Energy Way, Reno, NV 89502 is the only source that manufactures and distributes the Hamilton MICROLAB STARLET 1 Arm Manual Load Workstation and necessary operational components. The Hamilton MICROLAB STARLET Workstation is the only commercially available instrument that provides a customized sample handling processor specifically designed for assay needs for ongoing studies of the Protein Biomarker Laboratory under the Clinical Chemistry Branch as part of the DLS. This procurement will be awarded under procedures of FAR Part 13 (13.5 applicable), oral request for quotations. Due to the sole source nature of the requirement, this procurement has not been set aside for small business. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this requirement is 334516, Analytical laboratory Instrument manufacturing and the Small Business Size Standard is 500 employees. This is not a request for competitive proposals, nor is a solicitation available. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract will be based on responses to this notice and is solely within the discretion of the government.
