Description
The Naval Medical Logistics Command intends to negotiate on a sole source basis (IAW FAR 13.1) with Operations Technology Inc., 6825 38th Street North, Pinellas Park FL 33781, as the only responsible source that can provide an Industrion Surfacer that meets Navy requirements. Only Operations Technology inc. can provide ophthalmic lens finers/polishers that are compatible with the current installed base of finer/polishers at the activity. The requirements are, but not limited to: 1.The units shall be capable of both plus and minus surface processing. 2.The units shall be capable of multiple materials processing. 3.The units shall be capable of fining and polishing ophthalmic lenses after they have been run through a generator to create the desired ophthalmic lens power. 4.The units shall have an internal slurry system and include a chiller to cool the slurry to a temperature below 30 degrees Fahrenheit. 5.The units shall have physical dimensions no larger than 21 inches wide by 31 inches deep by 55 inches high. 6.The units shall be compatible with installed base of Operations Technology inc. finer/polishers currently at the facility. 7.The electrical requirements for the finer/polisher are 240VAC, 60Hz, single phase. This acquisition is being conducted under simplified acquisition procedures FAR 13.1. There are not set-aside restrictions for this requirement. The intended procurement will be classified under North America Industry Classification System (NAICS) 334519 with a Small Business Size Standard of 500. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals and no solicitation document exists for this requirement. However, parties interested in responding to this notice will need to submit technical data, including cost, sufficient to determine capability in providing the same product. All capability statements received by the closing date of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Capability statements shall be submitted by email only as a MS Word or Adobe PDF attachment to Jan Harding at Jan.Harding@med.navy.mil. Statements are due by 4PM EST 30 August 2010.
