- The Social Security Administration (SSA), Office of Acquisition and Grants (OAG), in conjunction with its customer, the Office of Telecommunications and Systems Operations (OTSO), is currently performing market research to determine the availability of sources to provide high-speed scanners. SSA is seeking industry vendors capable of providing high-speed scanners for SSA's remittance processing system. The scanners must be able to meet the following minimum requirements: • Deskew; • Auto cropping; • Color Drop Out; • Multi-feed detection; • Pre and/or Post Scan Imprinters; • Classify using OCR or Barcode; • In line recognition of OCR, MICR (magnetic); • Output data in XML and ASCII; • Output Images in Tiff and JPEG simultaneously (Dual Streamed); • Minimum Document Size of 3 in. x 5 in.; • Maximum Document Size at least 8.5 in. x 14 in.; • Feeder - ADF for batches and single drop feed modes; • Minimum 4 Sorter pockets for sorting checks, coupons, full pages & reject pocket; • Speed at 200 dpi - 100 ppm 200 images per minute duplex; • Resolution at 300 dpi both Tiff and JPEG; and • Must be compatible with Microsoft Windows 2003 server and workstation versions Windows XP and Windows Vista, with support and compatibility with future Windows patches, service packs, and upgrades including Windows 7. SSA intends to use any information provided in response to this notice to develop an acquisition strategy. Specifically, respondents must submit, at a minimum, the following information: 1) Corporate experience, including socioeconomic and business size status; 2) Brief summary on the strategy you recommend for high-speed scanning; 3) Availability of services through existing Government-Wide Acquisition Contracts (i.e., GSA Federal Supply Schedules, NASA SEWP, etc.). Please include a copy of your GSA/GWAC schedule, if applicable. Interested sources that believe they have the bona fide capability to provide high-speed scanners should submit a detailed statement of their solution, in writing, to Christopher Mettee, Contract Specialist, Division of Information Technology and Maintenance, 7111 Security Boulevard, First Floor Rear Entrance, Baltimore, MD 21244. SSA will accept responses submitted electronically via email at Christopher.Mettee@ssa.gov. You may fax information to (410) 965-9486. Please reference SSA-RFI-10-HSSRS in the email subject line. SSA must receive all responses by 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time on September 3, 2010.
