Description
The United States Army Medical Research Acquisition Activity (USAMRAA) has a requirement for the following: The biosensor system for rapid molecular identification and characterization using mass spectroscopy in conjunction with Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) target amplification needed by Diagnostics Systems Division. a.Must utilize PCR amplification of nucleic acids in highly conserved regions (such as 16S and 23 S ribosomal areas) coupled with precise measurement of molecular mass of the PCR products thus produced for identification of unknown organisms. b.Must utilize a 96 well format for small volume samples. c.Once loaded and started, must be capable of processing at least 250 samples in a 24 hour period in a walk-away mode requiring no interaction with the operator. Results should be available to the operator as they are completed rather than having to wait for the entire run to finish. d.Must use a database compatible with that of our existing IBIS T5000 instrument in order to ensure continuity of data analysis. e.Must utilize Time of Flight (TOF) electro-spray mass spectrometer technology similar to that used by our existing IBIS T5000 instrument to permit close comparison both of raw data and final results from each instrument. f.Must accept a broad range of sample types using commonly available nucleic acid purification kits or methods. g.Must be a high-throughput platform that enables cost-effective analysis of large numbers of specimens. h.Must allow for simultaneous identification and quantification of all bacteria, all major groups of pathogenic fungi, and all major families of viruses. i.Must have a proven record of reliability and vendor support. This requirement is being solicited as unrestricted. The standard classification NAICS code is 325413. All responsible sources may submit a quote, which shall be considered by the agency. The competitive solicitation, solicitation amendments and all questions and answers relating to this procurement shall be made available via the Internet at https://acquisition.army.mil/asfi/ or https://www.fedbizopps.gov.
