- Customs and Border Protection intends to award a sole source purchase order for rental furniture to Cort Furniture Rental under the authority of FAR 6.302.1. This synopsis is being published for informational purposes only. Notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. The purpose of this sole source is to only fulfill an immediate bonafide need of the government. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) continues to have growth in staffing and building renovations. Rental furniture has allowed CBP to setup offices quickly to accommodate that need. Due to unforeseen circumstances, relocating back into a permanent building has been placed on hold. CBP intends to buy out the rental furniture at a nominal cost. The cost associated with continuing to rent furniture is exorbitant and replacing the furniture all at once would be costly and would prohibit the staff from working. A total work stoppage of CBP would endanger the mission and cannot be allowed. Cort is the only known vendor that can satisfy the need of the government since they already have the furniture in place. This acquisition is being procured under FAR part 6 and will result in the issuance of one (1) blanket purchase order.
