- The United States Geological Survey (USGS) Grand Canyon Monitoring and Research Center has a requirement for the following items: 2 each, 1 MHz Horizontal Side-Looking Doppler Sensors with water level sensors2 each, 2 MHz Horizontal Side-Looking Doppler Sensors with water level sensors These items will be used to make high-resolution measurements of stage, suspended-silt and clay concentration, suspended-sand concentration, and suspended-sand grain size at two locations on the Rio Grande in Big Bend National Park. The USGS Grand Canyon Monitoring and Research Center used OTT Side-Looking Doppler Sensors extensively in the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon. This work is being extended to the Rio Grande and OTT equipment is required to conduct this work, as there is no other company that makes or sells a sideways-looking acoustic-Doppler profiler that is compatible with this office's existing acoustic suspended-sediment measurement techniques and data-processing methodologies. As such, USGS does not intend to solicit quotes from any source other than OTT Messtechnik GmbH & Co.
