- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers intends to award a sole source firm-fixed price type contract to the GAO Fitness & & Athletics Association for annual memberships for 235 HQUSACE military and civilian personnel in Washington, DC. The period of performance shall begin on 21 Aug 2010 and end on 20 Aug 2011. Like most USACE field offices, the HQ offices are not located on a military installation where military fitness facilities might be available. Although there are several military facilities located in the National Capital Region, they are not located close enough to HQUSACE to make it practicable for USACE military and civilian personnel to utilize them during the work week. Therefore, commuting distance to the nearest military installation would cause unreasonable hardship on affected personnel. This is a special notice prepared in accordance with the format in Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 6.302-1(b)(ii), unique supplies or services available from only one or a limited number of sources or from only one or a limited number of suppliers with unique capabilities. However, any firm that believes it can meet this requirement may give written notification to the Contracting Officer within 10 days from the date of publication of this announcement. Supporting evidence must be in sufficient detail to demonstrate the ability to comply with the requirement. Responses received will be evaluated; however, a determination by the Government to compete the proposed procurement based on the responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. If no responses are received, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will proceed with awarding a Firm-Fixed Price contract to GAO Fitness & & Athletics Association for annual gym membership for military and civilian personnel at HQUSACE. This service shall be provided in Washington, DC.
