Description
The 49th Contracting Squadron (49 CONS) at Holloman AFB, NM, is issuing this Sources Sought Synopsis for information only to locate sources who are capable. Holloman AFB requires Contractor to provide all labor, tools, and materials necessary to perform the following: design and fabricate a three-axis digital control system for controlling the main axis of the Model 445 120-inch centrifuge and both axes of the two-axis platform mounted on the end of the 120-inch radius centrifuge arm. Contractor shall also design and fabricate replacement drive amplifiers for all three axes. Contrator shall deliver and integrate the control system and drive amplifiers with the existing 120-inch centrifuge, and train the government in proper operation, balance tuning, troubleshooting, and general maintenance of the centrifuge digital control system. The 120-inch centrifuge was installed on Holloman AFB in the early 1990's. The digital control system and drive amplifiers for the centrifuge were replaced in 2002. The drive amplifiers have become unreliable and the manufacturer, Contraves, is no longer in business. This Sources Sought is an advance notice for information and planning purposes only and is not a solicitation. The North American Industry Classification System is 334511, Search, Detection, Navigation, Guidance, Aeronautical, and Nautical System and Instrument Manufacturing, and the size standard is 750 employees. Firms responding to this sources sought notice must: (1) state whether they are a small or large business based on the size standard above; if applicable, identify subcontractors to be used and their anticipated responsibilities; (2) indicate all of the following small business status categories that apply: Small Disadvantaged (SDB), Woman-owned Small Business (WOSB), 8(a) firm, HUB Zone firm, Service-disabled Veteran-owned Small Business (SDVOB), Historically Black College and University or Minority Institution (HBCU/MI); (3) provide experience in the form of an outline of previous projects for specific relevant work completed or currently being performed of equivalent magnitude including contract numbers, description of work, points of contact, and phone numbers; professional qualifications and specific experience of personnel identified to perform the work; and (4) any other pertinent information which would enable the government to assess a firm's capabilities. Because the government reserves the right to set this acquisition aside for small business, 8(a) firms, HUB Zone firms or Service-disabled Veteran-owned Small Business based on the responses it receives, it is imperative that firms respond with the required information for capabilities to be accurately evaluated. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities, and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 1:00 PM MST on 16 Aug 2010. Oral communications ARE NOT acceptable in response to this notice. This request for information is not a commercial solicitation and the Government will not pay for any information submitted, or for any costs associated with providing the information. Interested parties capable of performing this requirement should send an e-mail to: laura.buehler@holloman.af.mil or FAX to (575) 572-7333.
