- Justification In accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation 6.302-1. Surgical instruments for the Davinci Robot. Amount $244,840 Demonstration that the proposed contractor's unique qualification or the nature of the acquisition requires the use of the authority cited. The DaVinci Surgical System is a computer-enhanced minimally invasive surgical system consisting of three components: the Insite Vision System, Surgical Cart and Surgeon Console. The Insite Vision System provided the surgeon with a true minimally invasive 3-D view of the surgical field including depth of the field, magnification and high resolution. The Surgical Cart includes the Endo Wrist instruments. It has up to four robotic arms whereby the laparoscope and up to three Endo Wrist instruments are inserted the End Wrist instruments are designed to mimic the movement of the human hands, wrists, and fingers. The extensive range of motion allows precision that is not available in standard minimally invasive procedures. The Surgeon Console contains the master controls that the surgeon uses to manipulate the Endo Wrist instruments. The handles translate the surgeon's natural hand and wrist movements into corresponding precise and scaled movements. The Endo Wrist instruments are only able to move when commanded by the surgeon. These are direct replacement parts/components for existing equipment. Intuitive is the only company that makes Davinci Robot and all its compatible accessories. A Fed Biz Ops notice with the intent to sole source was published to the FBO website. There were no inquires about the solicitation other than Intuitive Surgical Inc. The pricing provided by Intuitive Surgical was in-line with past procurements.
