- The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) plans to award a sole source purchase order to Siemens Industry to provide four (4) PowerEdge Servers, twenty (20) Precision Workstations, one (1) Network SYNC, two (2) 2 Port KVM Switches and Windows 2003 software to be configured to upgrade the USPTO's existing Electronic Security System. This is the only equipment that is compatible with USPTO's existing security infrastructure. Use of any other equipment will result in equipment compatibility issues within the USPTO's security system. As the system maintenance contractor for USPTO's existing Electronic Security System, Siemens has gained unique expertise in USPTO's associated security equipment (e.g. Ccure, Bosch, Allegiant, etc.) as well as USPTO's security infrastructure and specifications. This expertise will enable Siemens to effectively and efficiently provide the required hardware and software in order for the USPTO to meet its required timeframes and comply with HSPD-12. No other contractor possesses this expertise.
