- Description
- Switchgear and Switchboard Assemblies 1. Remove exterior covers exposing the buswork. Clean insulators and inspect. Hipot all buswork. DLRO all joints to verify good connections. Reinstall exterior covers. 2. Test circuit breakers. Using the Zensol circuit breaker tester, verify all operational timing parameters. Using Hipot, verify vacuum bottle and insulator integrity. Using DLRO, verify contact resistance. 3. Test protective relays. Using Manta MTS-5000 power system simulator, verify actual operating parameters as programmed. Verify fault timings. Relays to be tested “ 1 each SR750, 2 each S4489, 1 each 751A, 7 (estimated) other miscellaneous protection devices. Simulate system wide faults to verify proper coordination of settings under both utility and generator supplied power conditions. 4. Clean switchgear interior. Tighten all terminal block connections. Visually inspect all components. 5. Submit report detailing test results by PDF. Evaluated feeder breaker Protective Relay 1. Go to the jobsite and download the existing settings from the Siemens feeder overcurrent relays. Document hardware and firmware revision levels. 2. Obtain connected load and transformer data for each feeder. 3. Perform calculations to evaluate what settings and logic would provide coordinated protection for each distribution feeder per NEC requirements. 4. Compare existing settings with those calculated. 5. Submit the results of the comparison to your engineering team for their review and comment. 6. Upon review, change indicated settings, logic, and firmware versions for each Siemens relay and perform operational testing. Evaluated Generator and Utility Feeder Protective Relays 1. Evaluate existing generation and utility logic and settings. 2. Perform calculations coordinated with distribution protection devices in accordance with NEC requirements and within the capabilities of the installed equipment. 3. Submit the results to your engineering team for their review and comment. 4. Upon review, change indicated settings and logic for each relay. Perform operational testing.
