- Description
- NASA/GSFC has a requirement for 48 rolls of DRP reflective material with highreflectivity of >95% in the wavelength range from 300 nm 500 nm and the film shallbe thin and very pliable. The reflector material needs to cover large areas and must bein a continuous piece of ~ 5 feet x 5 feet. Charged particles passing through thereflector, should produce little to no Cherenkov photons.NASA/GSFC intends to purchase the items from W. L. Gore & Associates, Inc. pursuant toFAR 13.106, for the acquisition of supplies or services determined to be reasonablyavailable from only one source. Through research its been found that other materialsreflectivity falls off below 400 nm or becomes very stiff which will not enable a formingcovering of the reflector inside the detector, or the reflector produces an unacceptablylarge Cherenkov signal by passing charged particles (cosmic radiation).The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12.Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform theeffort in writing to the identified point of contact no later than 2:30PM EST on datelisted above. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purposeof determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. Adetermination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and opencompetition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretionof the government.Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice.All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency.
