- Description
- The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) intends to award, on a sole source basis, a Purchase Order to the American Statistical Association, Inc.(ASA). The purpose of this procurement is to acquire the services of ASA to assemble field leaders, subject matter experts, innovators with cutting edge-technology for the 13th Biennial Symposium on Statistical Methods. The goal of the symposium is to provide a forum for statisticians, epidemiologists, economists, policy analysts, and scientists to present and exchange ideas about data needs, collection, analysis, interpretation, and presentation of information to support evaluation of programs and policies. The exchange of knowledge will foster collaboration and problem-solving regarding data presentation in various ways regarding data fusion, GIS spatial analysis, and biosurveillance. Collaboration with the ASA brings many benefits to this event. It will open up the range of scholarly ideas, and foster a wide-ranging exchange of knowledge. The ASA is the second oldest professional organization in the United States, having been established in 1839. Its current membership stands at 18,000. These members are involved in business, academia, government, public health, medicine, economics, environment, and the social sciences. This allows a broad reach to groups that might not normally work together to become involved in tandem in the analysis, discussion, and exchange of ideas about the topic of this symposium. In addition to the exchange of knowledge, ASA's participation brings further benefit in the form of collaboration with their members and partnering to publish journal articles and papers with cutting edge information from this symposium. ASA will draw from a pool of educators within their 18,000 members to produce the training classes, and presentations, and to facilitate in-depth discussions. The anticipated award date is September 30, 2010. This is not a request for competitive proposals and no solicitation is available. Firms that believe they can provide this requirement are encouraged to identify themselves and give written notification, as well as, a capability statement to the contracting office by 12:00 p.m. eastern standard time on September 7, 2010. A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed actions based on responses to this notice is solely within its discretion. Information will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
