- STATEMENT OF WORK REPAIR, CLEANING AND CHIPSEALING OF MAIN PARKING LOT USDA, ARS, NWISRL, 3793 N 3600 E, KIMBERLY, ID 83341 CONTACT: Shelley Steen, Contracting Officer Phone: 208-423-6568 FAX: 208-423-6507 Email: shelley.steen@ars.usda.gov This is a service requirement for the USDA, ARS, Northwest Irrigation and Soils Research Laboratory in Kimberly, Idaho. Our requirement is for a qualified/licensed contractor to provide all equipment, labor, supplies and materials needed to do the chip sealing of the main parking lot area, approximately 3,450 square yards, to include: Complete repair of holes in existing asphalt, prior to chip sealing. Clean and prepare the entire chip sealing area for chip sealing. Apply chip seal to the entire chip sealing area, including mechanized sweeping prior to and on the completion of the chip sealing portion of the project.  Perform any and all cleanup and disposal of excess material. ALL WORK SHALL BE DONE WHEN THE TEMPERATURE OF THE ASPHALT IN THE CHIP SEALING AREA IS FIFTY (50) DEGREES FAHRENHEIT AND RISING - NO COOLER. The specifications are as follows: REPAIR OF HOLES IN ASPHALT There are two patch areas. •The South entrance patch area is 2'x2'. •The North/NW entrance patch area is 3'x30'. The repair work to be completed is as follows: •Cut/square off patch areas. •Compact bottom of patching area holes. •Match level of repair material to level of existing asphalt. •Use 3/8" hot mix patching material, or better. • Tack oil/finish oil all cut edges of patch areas. •Perform all clean-up of patch areas to prepare them for chip-sealing. CLEANING/PREPARATION FOR CHIPSEALING •Sweep (mechanized) entire main parking lot. •Remove all dirt/excess material •Burn out/ clean/clear all cracks, gaps or breaks in parking lot of vegetation and foreign material. CHIPSEALING •Spray down oil using distribution truck on entire chip sealing area. oOil used is to be MC-24, or better. oRate of spray is to be.40 gallons per square yard, or better. •Apply rock chips over entire chip sealing area. oRock chips are to be 3/8" chips. oChip coverage shall be twenty-six (26) pounds per square yard, or better. •Entire chip sealing area to be rolled a minimum of four (4) times within thirty (30) minutes of application, with minimum 4 ½ ton rubber tire roller. •Sweeping (mechanized) of excess gravel to occur between 2 and 4 days after rolling of chip sealing area. •Apply top coat/fog coat to entire chip sealing project, after sweeping is completed. Project completion includes removal of excess gravel from entire chip sealing project area.
