- Description
- The USDA, Animal & Plant Health Inspection Service has a requirement to develop an electronic Pharmacovigilance (PV) System for Adverse Event Reporting (AERs) associated with the use of Veterinary Medical Products (VMPs), to enhance the programs ability to ensure that Veterinary Biological Projects used are safe and effective as mandated by the VSTA and it promulgated standard requirements. The Pharmacovigilance System will detect, collect, manage, assess, report, investigate, communicate, and act upon Adverse Event Reports associated with the use of Veterinary Biological Products and ensure that such products meet the standard requirements for safety and efficacy. The objective of the Pharmacovigilance Project is to develop an integrated system that is flexible, reliable and maintainable by USDA resources in the long term, efficient, adaptable, accessible, secure, cost effective, and tailored to the information management needs of the Pharmacovigilance System users at the Center for Veterinary Biologics (CVB).
