- Description
- Amendment to solicitation SB1341-10-RQ-0359 Helium-3 Dipper Probe System. The above referenced solicitation is hereby amended to respond to technical questions submitted. QUESTION 1: Should the 3He insert have a brass taper seal on the IVC tailset and will the insert be located in liquid helium? QUESTION 2: Should the IVC flange be located above the 3He pot or the neutron scattering zone if the neutron horizontal scattering plane cannot intersect any part of the cooling system? RESPONSE: The sample area (neutron scattering zone) will be at the bottom of the insert, below the 3He pot, which is in turn below the IVC flange. The space in which the insert goes will be full of liquid 4He. The insert must not contribute any additional cryogens (or tubes, wires, etc.) to the scattering plane. The only thing in the scattering plane should be the thin-walled aluminum IVC.
