Description
The U.S. Dept of Commerce, NOAA Wallops Command and Data Acquisition Station, 35663 Chincoteague Road, Wallops, VA 23337, intends to negotiate and award a firm fixed price contract to Paradise Data Com Incorporated, 328 Innovation Boulevard, Suite 100, State College, PA 16803, for the repair of two(2) each Paradise Data Com power amplifiers, Model Number HPAS2500SRXX001, serial numbers 172073 and 172075, under the authority of FAR 6.302-1. Only one responsible source is available to satisfy the agency requirement for this repair. Paradise Data Com, Inc. is the manufacturer of these power amplifiers the only source available with the knowledge and expertise required to complete the repairs efficiently and in a timely manner. These units are components of the Solid State Power Amplifier Systems (SSPA) used in the antenna transmitter systems at Wallops CDA Station, Wallops Island, Virginia. The SSPA transmitter systems enable the station to receive and disseminate vital information from GOES satellites. These satellites provide critical environmental data used by global customers in the prediction of potentially catastrophic weather events such as hurricanes, floods and tornadoes. The Solid State Power Amplifier Systems operate 24 hours per day, seven days per week and must be adequately maintained in order to provide critical data. Any interruption in the collection and distribution of this data could compromise the lives and safety of U.S. Citizens. This notice is not a request for competitive proposals, however all responsible sources may submit a capability statement, proposal, or quotation which shall be considered by the agency. All information received by 2pm, EST, 09/10/2010, will be considered by the government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed acquisition is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement in the future. Responses to this notice, if any, must show clear and convincing evidence that competition would be advantageous to the Government. Inquiries will only be accepted via email to Terri.L.Ford@noaa.gov
