Description
The USDA, Agricultural Research Service intends to issue and award to Applied Biosystems, on a sole source basis, a contract for(1) Attune Acoustic Focusing Cytometer. Award is pursuant to 41 U.S.C.253(c(1)- Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. REQUIREMENT: The Contractor shall provide an Acoustic Focusing Flowing Cytometer that will allow repeatable and reliable flow cytometric data with the following minimum requirements. 1) Must use acoustic technology to cause cells and particles to align for single event analysis allowing for smaller sample sizes to be stained and analyzed (50,000 cells or less). Must have the ability to stain a minimum number of 100,000 cells for analysis, so as to achieve statistical accuracy resulting in less antibody reagent being used for a large number of samples. 2) Must be able to process samples at flow rates between 25 and 1000 ul per minute providing both high sensitivity and high flow rates. This allows for the processing of a larger number of samples in one day. 3) Must be able to provide at least 6 decades of resolution enabling high data accuracy. 4) Must be able to acquire eight parameters on a single sample with six color fluorescence data plus forward and side scatter. 5) Must have multi-parameter capability to provide flexibility to obtain exceptionally high levels of information from a single sample. 6) Must be able to provide automated start up and shut down capability as well as data acquisition, data analysis, and functional control of the instrument making the overall operation of the instrument simple and convenient. This is an essential function that will accommodate a wide variety of users with different levels of experience. 7) Must allow dichroic and bandpass filters to be easily changed providing the ability to reconfigure the cytometer filters and dichroics without the need for a service engineer. Award is anticipated NLT September 13, 2010. Responses are to be received within 7 days of this notice. The NAICS Code is 334516, with a Size standard of 500 employees. This procurement will be processed pursuant to FAR part 12, Acquisition of Commercial Items. No telephone inquiries will be accepted. No solicitation will be issued. Questions can be addressed to John Wilkinson@ars.usda.gov.
