Description
LIGHT WEIGHT MODULAR BERTHS AND COMPONENT SUB-ASSEMBLIES 01 GENERAL, ALL ITEMS A. Light Weight Modular Berth Units and components shall be made in accordance with the Light Weight Modular Berth Procurement Specification Dated 1-25-2007 which is posted at https://www.spear.navy.mil/habitability/ (Note: Vendors will require a PKI certificate to access), under Habitability Drawings Library, Manufacturer ™s Detail Drawings, and the following: B. In lieu of the contacts cited in the Procurement Specification, the technical point of contact for all submittals and approvals is MARMC Code 213, Baldev Gill, (757) 443 3872 ext. 1856, e-mail Baldev.Gill@navy.mil. Any deviations must be submitted for approval specific to the applicable solicitation or contract. C. All submittal dates and milestones must be advanced from those cited in the LWMB Procurement Specification as needed to suit specific solicitation or contract required delivery dates. D. The Light Weight Modular Berth Procurement Specification is four sections; the notes section C, the notes section D, the CDRLs, and detail descriptions for the component sub-assemblies. E. Shock Qualification and submittals for Shock Qualification only apply to solicitations or contracts which include berth units with the extension letter W in the Berth ID or Find Number, and/or subassemblies or berths which are otherwise called out as requiring shock. F. BERTH LIGHTS shall be in compliance with Mil-F-16377, the Specification Sheet invoked or applicable to the Symbol Number cited, and the following: (1). The manufacturer shall have satisfactorily accomplished First Article Inspection and Testing on lights identical to those under this solicitation/contract. Supporting documentation of all First Article Inspection and Testing per Mil-F-16377, including shock and vibration testing, shall be retained (for three years after material delivery) and copies shall be provided to the government on request. When documentation is requested, a copy of a prior government approval letter shall be included if applicable. New First Article Inspection and Testing in support of this solicitation/contract is only needed if there has been a change in production, methods, materials or facilities since the prior test sample(s) were made. Test and inspection documentation shall clearly indicate what configuration was tested, and there shall be documentation to correlate why the tested historical sample is still applicable to current production, such as confirmation that part manufacturer ™s, and methods, and facilities have not changed since the testing was accomplished. Changing the cord material from a standard cord to a special cord required by this solicitation/contract is not cause to require new First Article Inspection and Testing, however the strain relief bushings must be confirmed to be tight. (2). Plastic starters are not acceptable. (For information, this requirement is based on ISE Advisory 043 07.) G. MERCURY EXCLUSION NOTICE. The supplies furnished under this contract (other than fluorescent bulbs) shall be free from mercury contamination. (This exclusion applies during the manufacturing process, tests and inspections.) The supplies offered shall not have come in direct contact with mercury or any of its compounds nor with mercury containing devices employing only a single boundary of containment (other than fluorescent bulbs which are a component of deliverables). A single boundary of containment is one, which is not backed by a second seal or barrier to prevent contamination in event of rupture of the primary seal or barrier.
