- Description
- Q1811100010- General Grant National Memorial, New York, NY - Install Timeline Exhibit This solicitation has been amended to reflect the following change(s): 1. The response dated has been extended until Friday, September 10, 2010. 2. Section D, Division 4 - Exhibit Structures has been changed from: "Graphic panel sizes: approximately 6' in width x 4' in height. Exact measurements to be determined." To: Section D, Division 4 - Exhibit Structures "Graphic panel sizes: approximately 4' in width x 6" in height. Exact measurements to be determined." Question: I have questions regarding the 6 graphic panels, specifically as to what resources will be provided by the National Park Service. There is an enormity of time disparity between creating photo montage illustrations using Park supplied photos as opposed to creating historically accurate paintings/illustrations with said photos used as a launching point. Answer: We want six photo montages comprised of photos and text supplied by NPS. We do not expect anyone to create original paintings or illustrations. Question: Also is there any wiggle room in the 60 business days deadline? Does the clock continue to tick while sketches/ comps are being reviewed? Answer: The original period of performance - 60 days did not include time for NPS review. Therefore, the period of performance has been amended to 90 days to allow for NPS review and response time. Question: As for the invoice submission, is it possible to break up the invoice into thirds with payment due on delivery of sketches, comps and then final installation. This would greatly help in covering the significant outlay of materials involved. Answer: Progress payments will be allowed. Question: A fabrication method for the panels was not specified. Is there a preferred method? Answer: An example of these panels can be viewed at the "Deshler Morris House Exhibit in Germantown PA. A photo of the finished product the NPS is looking for is available. Please contact Roselyn Sessoms, Contract Specialist at roselyn_sessoms@nps.gov for photo of panel example. The only difference between these and the proposed contract is the Panels that will be installed will be in a horizontally installed and oak should be the finish on the wood surfaces..Please make a modification to Section D, Division 4 - Exhibit Structures to read as follows: "Graphic panel sizes: approximately 4' in width x 6" in height. Exact measurements to be determined." Question: Are there any similar timeline designs which could be used as guidance for the creative effort? Answer: Yes, there is a similar exhibit in the Deshler Morris House Exhibit in Germantown PA. Question: By what method will customer-supplied high resolution scans be sent to the contractor? CD? DVD? FTP? Answer: Please see Scope of Work Section E, Division - 5 Graphics, paragraph 2. Question: Setup and installation is being supplied by the customer. Do the finished panels need to be packaged and transported in a preferred method. Answer: The finish products are to be delivered without damages of any sort, the method of packing is up to the contractor. Question: How do "typical fabrication drawings" differ from the "graphic layouts" and how do they all differ from "layout proofs"?Answer: - Fabrication drawings show how the panels are fabricated i.e.; materials, dimensions, frame, hardware etc.. - Graphic layouts are usually sketches showing the location, size of text and photos with full context and layout on walls.- Layout proofs are full color images of all finished panels including context (photographs and text) in position on the panels.
