Description
CARGO UNMANNED AIRCRAFT SYSTEM (CARGO UAS) REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI) Introduction This announcement constitutes a Request For Information (RFI) notice for planning purposes. This is NOT a Request for Proposals. NO SOLICITATION DOCUMENTS EXIST AT THIS TIME. This RFI does not constitute a commitment, implied or otherwise, that the Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratory (MCWL) will take procurement action in this matter. Further, neither MCWL nor the Government will be responsible for any cost incurred in furnishing this information. The Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratory (MCWL) is seeking an understanding of available technology and configuration options that address a need for aerial systems that can deliver mission specific ship to objective logistical support to ground units operating in a distributed environment autonomously. In response to significant changes to the nature of combat operations across the range of military operations (ROMO), the MCWL is seeking available technology and configuration option of flexible and scalable aerial systems that would enable an enhanced MAGTF to support two Company Landing Teams (CLTs) operating in a distributed environment. Although the notional size of an individual combat unit requiring logistic support is a Marine Corps rifle company (approx 182 personnel), the flexibility for resupply of smaller units may also prove beneficial. Additionally, operations or phases of operations, logistic support may be required directly from naval vessels located up to 100 nautical miles from shore with equipment. The MCWL is seeking equipment concepts, key and enabling technologies and technology development efforts that can deliver weights of at least 2,500 lbs in no less than 625 lbs packages to multiple locations. Equipment will also address the operational distances associated with timely ship to objective simulated aerial resupply of geographically distributed combat units autonomously. Given the need for flexibility over a broad range of operational conditions, the specific requirements for the unmanned air vehicle are not rigidly defined and are provided as advisory in nature. NOTE: This RFI is issued for the purpose of determining market interest, feasibility, and capability of sources and does NOT constitute an Invitation for Bids (IFB), a Request for Proposals (RFP), a Request for Quotes (RFQ) or an indication that the Government will contract for any of the items and/or services contained in this notice.
