Description
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to negotiate, on a sole source basis under the authority of FAR 13.106(b)(1), with A&J Machine Works, Germantown, MD 20874 for Carbon nanotube processing devices and dialysis filtering cells because A & J Machine Works was the provider for the design and machining to fabricate various listed custom components form plastic, sheet metal, electronic and other stock materials provided by NIST that will be used in the assembly of a one-of-a-kind nanotechnology processing and filtration devices. Components must be precision fabricated to be either compatibly and/or interchangeable with parts already being used by NIST in the assembled devices made by A & J. The additional /replacement parts are as follows: C-clamp macro-chamber with 500 ml capacity with 3 access ports per filter zone (up to 10 zone configuration), internal-removable filter/seals (open design to mount filter material), high-pressure end cap seals (solid), single vent port per zone; C-clamp macro-chamber filter holder. 2.65" O.D., 1.8" I.D.; 0.395" thick. Two piece, double O-ring design, with six stainless steel screw assembly. Filter to be fabricated using a double O-ring design to prevent any leakage of fluids or water vapor under normal room pressure and temperature once mounted; A Motor Base Bearing Adaptor. Base adaptor to allow upgrade to heavy-duty self-adjusting bearings. 2 axles per unit x 2 units; An adaptor to allow for exchange of 500 ml C-clamp macro-chamber units into the tumbler cages without disassembly of the tumbler; A digital electronic controller counting system with electronic sensors, feedback speed control/counter encoder wheels. The controller shall allow for reversing direction, pausing of the motor and speed control of the drive axles in a range of 10 to 80 rpm with a tolerance of no more than 0.1% over 100,000 revolutions. It shall have an RS-232 output must be programmable using a standard computer operating Microsoft Windows.
