- Description
- Diplomatic History Course to be taught at the Foreign Service Institute. This is a stand alone course for any member of the U.S. Government community with an interest in U.S. diplomatic history. The audience will be members of this community wishing to enhance their understanding of U.S. diplomacy from the time of American independence to the present. The majority of the students have undergraduate degrees and many also have graduate degrees, in international relations, international studies, national security policy and other similar fields. Employees and others who serve in U.S. missions abroad encounter occasions when they may be asked to explain and/or comment on U.S. diplomacy in a historical context. This course will provide an in depth understanding of the development of U.S. diplomacy and how American values have shaped U.S. foreign policy.
