- COCKPIT ARMOR PDF FILE FROM THE TECH ORDER. CAPABILITY SURVEY WITH QUESTIONNAIRRE. C-130 Armor The United States Air Force (USAF) is considering replacing all existing armor with new armor for C-130 aircraft. The requirement being considered is for 12.7mm light weight armor. The USAF is also looking for a more effective mounting/fastening system than the current Velcro system. This requirement includes non-recurring engineering (NRE) and technical data updates, along with a production quantity of approximately 40 kits over the next two years. Kit installation will be accomplished by the USAF. We are conducting market research to identify potential sources that may possess the expertise, capabilities, and experience to meet the requirements for C-130 Armor. An example of the existing armor in the flight station is attached. This requirement is subject to change. This market survey is being conducted to identify potential sources that may possess the expertise, capabilities, and experience to meet the requirements for C-130 Armor. The level of security clearance and amount of foreign participation in this requirement has not been determined. Contractors/Institutions responding to this market research are placed on notice that participation in this survey may not ensure participation in future solicitations or contract awards. The government will not reimburse participants for any expenses associated with their participation in this survey. PROSPECTIVE CONTRACTORS LOOKING TO RESPOND TO THIS MARKET RESEARCH SSS SURVEY SHOULD DO SO IAW THE ATTACHED CAPABILITY SURVEY INSTRUCTIONS.
