Description
RECOVERY ACTION. FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY. This action is awarded under Modification no. 177 which incorporates Work Authorization 09/CJ000/05/01 Rev 0, funded with Recovery Act dollars into the referenced Management and Operating (M&O) contract DE-AC52-07NA27344 (Contractor DUNS Number 785627931). Lawrence Livermore National Security LLC (LLNS) will execute the Advanced Research Project Angency-Energy (ARPA-E) project entitled Catalytic Improvement of Solvent Capture Systems as defined in the Work Authorization 09/CJ000/05/01 Rev 0. In addition to its defined work scope, LLNS is the lead team member and will coordinate and manage the project with its other members, The University of Illinois and Babcock and Wilcox. LLNS work scope consists of design, synthesize, and demonstrate small-molecule catalysts that mimic enzyme function and are protected from degradation in industrial environments. Catalysts will be demonstrated in both existing and new CO2-capture systems. Successful completion of this project would open up a new range of process conditions and methods for industrial CO2 capture, ranging from near-term improvement of existing processes, to longer term enablement of a new process; thus, dramatically lowering the energy and cost penalties associated with carbon capture. The contractor will be working at the Department of Energy's Federally Funded Research and Development Center, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. In accordance with FAR 5.705(b), the work authorization incorporated into the prime contract is priced as an "Other than Fixed Price" action because (i) LLNS manages and operates this Federally Funded Research and Development Center under a cost-reimbursement type M&O contract; (ii) all costs are to be fully recovered as required by departmental policy and contract terms; and (iii) this work scope is for research and development. Place of Contract Performance: Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory 7000 East Avenue Livermore, CA 94550 Contracting Point of Contact(s): Ronna Promani Contracting Office Address: U.S. Department of Energy, National Nuclear Security Administration Livermore Site Office 7000 East Ave L-293 Livermore, CA 94550
