- Description
- RESPONSE TO QUESTIONS. QUESTION 1: Part 3-Execution sub section 3.2 Wiring calls for initiation, indicating and return conductors to be "routed separately and independently". Is it the intent of the specification to require that all initiation, notification and returning conductors to be routed in separate conduits? This requirement will add greatly to the cost of this project and is typically not required in this type of structure. RESPONSE: NFPA 72 Edition 2010 does allow for routing in one conduit for addressable fire alarm. RFI is justified. QUESTION 2: Part 3-Execution sub section 3.2 Wiring calls for initiation, indicating and return conductors to be "routed separately and independently". Is it the intent of the specification to require that all initiation, notification and returning conductors to be routed in separate conduits? This requirement will add greatly to the cost of this project and is typically not required in this type of structure. RESPONSE: NFPA 72 National Fire Alarm and Signaling code Handbook 2010 Edition does allow all for returning conductors in one Conduit. QUESTION 3: Section 2.3 Initiating Devices section #2 calls for smoke detectors to be ionization type for both ceiling and duct detectors. Ionization detectors are no longer manufactured due to the radioactive isotope required for operation. Will you as the controlling authority permit the use of Photo Electric type smoke detectors for both ceiling and duct smoke detectors? RESPONSE: NFPA 72 National Fire Alarm and Signaling code Handbook will allow Photo Electirc type smoke detectors for both ceiling and duct smoke detectors. RFI is verified.
