- Description
- Contracting Office Address Department of Health and Human Services, National Institutes of Health, National Cancer Institute, Office of Acquisitions, 6120 Executive Boulevard, EPS Suite 600, Room 6070, Rockville, MD 20852, UNITED STATES. Description The National Cancer Institute (NCI), Cancer Center Research (CCR), plans to procure a Small Animal PET in vivo imaging system. This acquisition will be processed under FAR Part 12 – Acquisition for Commercial Items and will be made pursuant to the authority in FAR Part 13.106(b)(2) and 13.501-(a)(1) using simplified acquisition procedures for commercial acquisitions. The North American Industry Classification System code is 334516 and the business size standard is $7.0M. Only one award will be made as a result of this solicitation. This will be awarded as a firm fixed price type contract. Delivery Date: 90 days from date of award. The acquisition of a small PET Animal Imaging system will allow the NCI to image PET injected animals (mice or rats) for a PET scan or CT scan or both. These images will validate an animal biodistribution for the imaging agents under research. Therefore, this instrument is important to the NCI’s pre-clinical research in the program. This will enable MIP to conduct microPET and CT imaging at a competitive level with other research institutions performing similar imaging work. It will also provide CCR investigators to integrate PET and CT scanning into their pre-clinical research. The type of research being planned requires scanning many mice to study one imaging agent, thus requiring high throughput by scanning up to three mice at once. The new scanner will allow for simultaneous multi-mouse imaging. Finally, it is envisioned that the preclinical research program may endeavor to study imaging agents in larger animals, including rhesus monkeys. Potential machines must have the following characteristics: Not to exceed 162cm D x 145cm W x 145cm Minimum Axial Field of View (AFOV) for PET Imaging of 95 mm Active PET Transaxial Field of View (TFOV) range from 30-125mm Active CT TFOV up to 120mm Preclinical handling system with plug-in animal beds High density LYSO crystal array detectors with pixels <1.12mm x 1.12mm and packing fraction >92% Complete 360 degree PET detector ring consisting of 12 detector modules with a total of 37,908 ultra-small detectors Option to scan 3 mice simultaneously Option for imaging larger animals models with imaging cell diameter of 150mm to include temperature and anesthesia control modules Advanced detector design with Quality Control check Three scanning modules to select based on the type of imaging being performed – an ultra high resolution mode with a TFOV of 45mm for scanning a mouse or rat brain, a mode for providing a balance of sensitivity and resolution for whole body mouse or rat imaging, and a mode for providing an ultra high sensitivity acquisition mode in a TFOV of 123mm for scanning multiple mice or larger animals such as monkeys Open access imaging system with a one step animal loading procedure to include a single motion PET and CT acquisition and software enabled fusion of PET and CT images Open access PET system with unobstructed view and acces to animal for tracer injection CT scanning to include a micro-focus X-ray source with user-selectable magnification to scan with voxel sizes (9µm to 37µm) Real-time image reconstruction for PET and CT imaging Installation – must be new product Service – must include no less than two (2) years Potential offerors may request a copy of the solicitation from Karri Mares, Contract Specialist via electronic mail at maresk@mail.nih.gov or fax (301) 402-4513. If you have questions regarding this notice, they may be addressed to the aforementioned individual noted above. When submitting your request please include complete mailing address, DUNS number, point of contact name, email, phone and fax number. Estimated issued date of the solicitation is September 24, 2010. No collect calls will be accepted. In order to receive an award, contractors must be registered and have valid certification in the Central Contractor Registration (CCR) and the Online Representations and Certifications Applications (ORCA).
