Description
This is a Request for Information (RFI) for project planning purposes only. No formal solicitation for this work exists at this time. The Bureau of Reclamation (Reclamation) is seeking information from industry to be used for the development of specifications and the Statement of Work (SOW) for the repair and replacement of the trash racks at Parker Dam. The existing trash rack structure consists of 12 bays comprised of two columns of trash racks per bay. The top 24 trash racks and their center metal bar support guide have corroded. Over the years, the trash racks and their metal supports have developed significant levels of rust and corrosion.Interested parties are encouraged to voluntarily provide information on their respective work capability/capacity for this project; repair and replacement recommendations; budgetary cost estimates; the fabrication process; and further suggestions and/or recommendations for the material and fabrication processes that may be considered for Reclamation's development of the project specifications and SOW. Interested parties may include, but are not limited to, vendors and both commercial and government customers. A draft sketch and materials list is attached to this announcement. Goal/Requirements of repair and replacement of trash racks: 1.Existing trash racks will either be completely replaced or repaired in sections.2.Replacement of trash racks must meet the material and thickness requirements outlined in the attached draft sketch.3.Fabrication of material and the installation must meet Bureau of Reclamation requirements.Response to RFI should include:1.Name, address and contact information of party submitting a response to the RFI.2.Description of vendor capabilities and commercial terms and conditions.3.Comments, suggestions, questions related to the fabrication, materials and drawings.4.Comments and recommendations that may be used to assist Reclamation in the development of a specification/SOW that will provide for optimum competition among commercial sources and improve the Government's ability to obtain quality, commercially available competitive prices for material, fabrication and installation.5.Description of technical challenges and approaches to achieve the above goals.6.Rough estimates or order-of-magnitude for the fabrication and replacement of the trash racks for budgetary purposes only. This RFI is issued for information only. Respondents are advised that Reclamation is under no obligation to acknowledge receipt of the information received, or provide feedback to respondents with respect to any information submitted under this RFI. Responses are not offers and cannot be accepted by the Government to form a binding contract. Responders are solely responsible for all expenses associated with responding to this RFI. A site visit is scheduled for October 5, 2010 at 10:00 am at Parker Dam, CA at the top of dam parking lot. The parking lot is located on the left side facing the dam upstream. Individuals interested in attending the site visit shall notify Shawn R. Smith, Procurement Technician, at email address: ssmith@usbr.gov.
