- Brand Name and Brand Name or Equal Information The government intends to acquire a type 4, model 448 fire apparatus for mounting on a government furnished cab and chassis. The scope of work may include, but is not limited to, all labor, supervision, tools, materials, and equipment necessary to manufacture and marry the fire apparatus to the government supplied cab and chassis. The period of performance will be 120 days from the start work date, which is expected to be on or around November/December, 2010. The solicitation will be issued as a total small business set-aside. The applicable NAICS code is 336211 - Motor Vehicle Body Manufacturing - and the corresponding small business size standard is 1,000 employees. A Request for Quote (RFQ) will be issued on this web site in the coming weeks. All responsible Small Business sources that submit an offer will be considered. Award will be made on the basis of price. Please note that the specifications for this project will include brand name requirements and brand name or equal requirements. In accordance with FAR 6.303 and 6.304, we have attached a Justification and Approval for Other than Full and Open Competition listing all parts that have such a requirement. In accordance with the advisory multi-step process authorized by FAR 15.202, we invite all interested Small Business parties to submit a list of equivalent brand name parts that they intend to use in fulfilling the requirements specified in this announcement. These lists will be accepted for advisory purposes if submitted at least 10 days prior to the date quotes are due. This time is required so that we may have time to review the suggestions and provide feedback related to their acceptability. You may forgo the opportunity to submit your list for review, but it must still be submitted with your quote. If any part is deemed unacceptable at the time of quote evaluation, your quote will be considered nonresponsive and will not be considered for award. Thus, we encourage interested parties to submit their list of equivalent brand name parts for review prior to the established quote date. The absence of an equivalent brand name part on your quote will be interpreted as a declaration of intent to use the brand name part instead of an equivalent part.
