RECOVERY ACT ACTION THIS NOTICE IS PROVIDED FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY UNDER THE NATIONAL INSTITUTES OF HEALTH CONTRACT NUMBER HHSN276201000026C, RFP No. HHS-NIH-NLM-RDS-10-121-SES, entitled "RECOVERY-Computational Thinking to Support Clinicians and Biomedical Scientists (Part A-Partial Small Business Set-Aside)". In accordance with FAR Part 5.7 Publicizing Requirements under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, this is a notification of award on competitive, firm-fixed price, procurement using American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funding. As part of its "Medical Advanced Research Projects Initiative", the National Library of Medicine (NLM) wishes to evaluate the feasibility of using innovative computational thinking approaches to enhance the ability of clinicians and biomedical scientists to solve one or more significant cognitive tasks and bring improvements in medical care to patients, families and the public. The focus of this requirement is to fund meritorious projects that are innovative and offer significant technological advances in NLM's mission in the fields of science and health. This requirement was competed and awarded in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) Part 15 Contracting By Negotiation. Competition was limited to small businesses. It is the intent of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to award a firm-fixed price contract in the amount of $377,991.00 to SimulConsult, Inc. (DUNS No. 007086939) under contract no. HHSN276201000026C entitled, "An Evidence-Based, Open Database Approach to Diagnostic Decision Support". Under the aforementioned contract, the period of performance will be from September 27, 2010 - September 26, 2011. The objective of this project is to conduct research feasibility or proof of concepts studies that will: 1) develop and test computational approaches to one or more significant cognitive problems as commonly encountered by clinicians, clinical researchers, biologists, or patients; and 2) bring improvement in medical care to patients, families and the public.
