- Description
- RECOVERY - Normal fetal growth is a critical component to a healthy pregnancy and the long-term health of the child. The purpose of this contract is to recruit 2,400 low risk, normal weight women with an equal number of White, Hispanic, African American and Asian race/ethnicity and 600 obese women. Contracts for four clinical centers and one data coordinating center (DCC) were awarded in September 2008. Under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act 2009, this study plans to expand to 500 twin pregnancies, to recruit sufficient minorities for better population representation and to conduct a serial nutrition survey in all pregnancies. We will also recruit 200-250 monochorionic and 250-300 dichorionic twin pregnancies. A primary responsibility of the new clinical sites is to recruit both singleton (particularly minorities) and twin pregnancies in the first trimester and to follow up them until delivery. The Contractor will screen, consent, recruit and follow up with at least 200 healthy, low risk pregnant women with a singleton gestation, at least 75 obese women in first trimester and at least 20 monochorionic and 20 dichorionic twin pregnancies.
